The method and the Equipment
We highly recommend starting with 1-2 private sessions to discover the culture of Pilates and the apparatus. In Pilates we focus on your abdominals and back (at first!) and it is our job as teachers to teach you what to do with them… or how to work them. So you also need to have a good understanding of what is called the “Powerhouse or Core” (that it is not one muscle group but many) and most importantly you need to experience and feel what it means to initiate from your Powerhouse or Core.
We often joke that the Pilates equipment looks like a Medieval Torture Chamber. BUT do not be intimidated. Those springs and bars are there to help you and to assist in providing the strong and lean muscles you are looking for. Always safely first though! This is why we recommend private sessions.
To Sweat or Not to Sweat
Pilates is not an overly cardio workout (though we can get your heart rate up!) especially at the beginning of your practice. The sweat and heat that Pilates stimulates comes from your deep muscles and is very different than superficial workout sweating that you will be accustomed to. Do not fret if you don’t sweat! When it comes to Pilates this does not mean that you did not work correctly or sufficiently. You are still creating strong and beautiful lean muscles and building a stronger core. And the sweat will come the more into your practice you venture.
Pilates is different than any of your usual workouts and will work different muscles than you have ever used before. Confused after your first session? Don’t give up! Pilates may take a couple of sessions before you start to understand what you are aiming to accomplish and before you understand just how deep and efficient of work you are doing!
The Sore Factor
This is totally individualized to the client. Yes, you may be sore because you are using muscles you have never used before. However, not every novice is able to target those muscles on the first session, so it may take until the 2nd or 3rd session to engage fully and to feel the connection to those deep muscles and subsequently “feel the burn”.
No matter what your age or condition, the Pilates method will work for you, but don’t just take our word for it. According to the SGMA (Marketing research association), in the U.S. alone nearly nine million people participated in Pilates in 2010 – a staggering 456% increase from 2000.
Why start Pilates with a 1:1 session

All clients new to Pilates are advised to take up one of the 2 Introductory New Client offers.
Together with your teacher you will explore how Pilates can work for you and fit your goals. From your first moment you will learn to move differently and experience the unique benefits of working the spring resistance. Your teacher will guide you through and correct where necessary. Over your 2/3 sessions you will gain confidence and familiarity around this new and beneficial way of working out.
Depending on your goals; and together with your teacher you can decide the best way forward for you to develop the Pilates discipline. You may wish to invest in more privates or join our fun small energetic group classes – semi privates or tower.
Play Pilates Group classes
All group classes incorporates the use of the Tower (a Pilates apparatus) along with the Mat work and other props such as the Magic Circle, Foam Roll, Swiss Ball, and Bands. The teacher can also choose to include the Reformer and/or the Spine Corrector to the session.
The springs on the Tower apparatus are simple to handle where your work is supportive to enable you to deepen your work rapidly. The tension of the springs creates powerful, resilient muscles, strengthens and tones arms, legs, inner thighs, glutes and abdominals. By utilizing the TOWER, you will stretch your muscles while strengthening your core. Be prepared for a challenging and fun workout!
Please note that a minimum of 2 private sessions is required prior to joining a Tower class.

Payments cannot be refunded. You may pass onto a friend.
A minimum of 24 hours cancellation notice is required for the session to not be charged. This is to be done via your account online or by message/email for privates and semis.
Cancellation made out of this time frame will be charged as a Late Cancellation.
‘No Shows’ will be charged a Late Cancellation.
All classes must be paid for in advance. Clients with an outstanding balance may not attend the sessions until the balance is paid in full.
A Package of Classes must be used within specified months of purchase. There could be a fee of Chf 40.00 to reinstate it for 1 additional month.
A minimum of three 1:1 sessions is required before joining a Tower or Rformer class.
Only one Introduction Package may be purchased per client. Once complete, clients cannot buy another Introduction Package. The Introduction Package must be completed within 2 weeks from date of first class.
A group class with only one participant signed up will be cancelled.
